All the following facts are unheard of in normal circumstances. All hint strongly that Duffy was offered a very persuasive package to name a person so as to clear up police files.
The following questions should be asked:
1. Was the refusal of Mr. David Mulcahy to give Duffy a false alibi for the time
of the attack of his ex-wife the reason for Duffy to want revenge?
YES!
2. Was Duffy offered any type of deal to name an accomplice and to
recover from his amnesia?
During the course of Duffy´s interviews he declared that a lump sum of
£
20,000
had been deposited in his building society account.
In original interviews he refused to say where the money came from until he had time to think about it. Then he claimed his mother had deposited the money for him. His mother is a woman in her 60s who has only ever been a part-time cleaner at an old peoples´ home...
In Duffy´s latest sentence reports it has been mentioned that at some stage
in the future he may be repatriated to
Ireland
to be with his sister after his mother dies.
This can only mean one thing - his eventual release. This for a man whose
sentencing determined he would never be released. This comes so soon after he
gave evidence against Mr. David Mulcahy.
Duffy has also been subject to various privileges in prison since
co-operating with the police. He has been allowed to choose which wing and
cell he resides in and he is able to move whenever he wants. This is unheard
of for the average prisoner.
" Duffy was sacked from his prison workshop job due to inappropriate
behaviour towards female staff.
The police intervened
and spoke to the prison governor and secured his re-instatement in his job.
This occurred after he started co-operating with the police.
